Dear Annabella,

I liked your article!

What I try to do, is ask people simple questions, too. Really, like, “Why do you like orange juice?” “Why are you a republican (or a Democrat)?” “Why are you Jewish?/Christian?/Muslim?” “Why do you think it’s wrong to eat meat?/honey?” Basically, I am asking why they believe the things they believe. If they can explain it to me, cool, I am happy to listen to opposing view points & maybe even learn something. The only answer I do not accept is,”Because my parents were.” Otherwise, simple questions are absolutely the best & I’ve had terrific (for the most part) conversations. Although I have also been met with blank stares for some very basic question.
