As I was reading, I was reminded of a fantastic TED talk by Amanda Palmer called “The Art of Asking.”

No one goes into social service or teaching to become rich. So it is with writers & artists. We do what we do because we can’t not do it, because we love doing it. And then we get a stigma when it comes to money & our art. Sure, I want to be rich, but not at the expense of my soul. On the other hand… I gotta eat. On the other hand… there is only one J.K. Rallings. On the other hand… too many hands are already involved! Oy!
