Dear Candice,

I just finished reading your latest short essay about enormous things, & this is the only way I could figure out how to respond to you — through a response.

I want to say that I believe you. I hear you, & mostly, I am sorry that you had to go through that all, and alone. I believe you & I’m sorry we’re living in a cruel, unjust world, but more sorry that not only you got hurt, but kept getting hurt, over & over, just for speaking the truth. By not being a silent bystander at the time when it’s much easier to be silent, you ARE brave.

If I could get one superpower, it wouldn’t be flight or invisibility — it would bestowing of conscience & compassion on those who need it most: perpetrators & politicians (but I may be repeating myself). I’d be a busy little fucker, but it’d be worth it.
