An excellent (& timely) essay! The pursuit of happiness at the exclusion of all else is not only foolish, but dangerously overrated. Give me my darkness, my challenges, my rain, I need to have dragons to slay, even if I know, deep inside that, I, too, am a dragon.

There’s an Arab proverb: All sunshine makes a desert. Thanks, but no thanks. That’s not where I want to live, literally or metaphorically!
