Dear Jack,

I won’t tell you anything new or more revolutionary than other, busier people haven’t told you. I just want to encourage you to keep on keeping on.

I once stopped going to a writing group because the leader sneered at another writer, calling his desire to get published through an actual publishing house, with an actual agent, a “fairy tale.” Well, that has been my “fairy tale” for years, as well, & I will not self publish! My ultimate dream is the publishing house route & I’ll be damned if I’ll let anyone deter me or step on any one else’s dream! However, even if I never get published, I’m already living a life that brings me joy, a life where I get to write daily!

But writing is work & up to us, stealing 15 minutes here, an hour there, while publishing is a crap shoot. Sigh. Can it get frustrating? Yes! Reality intrudes- family calls, I have two children at home, my parents are getting older, laundry waits for no one & is never, EVER done!

But you know the best advice out there, you’ve been following it all along. Keep plugging away.
