Dear Jon,

As always I enjoy your writing, although I hope you know I am laughing with you & not at you. You sound “teddibly, teddibly” British when you go along just to get along, not to cause problems, no matter how much you’re suffering. It’s what comedies & tragedies are made of.

Mel Brooks once clarified the difference between the two: Tragedy is when I prick my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer & die.

Please keep writing so I know that you’re alive!
