Dear Jon,

No, I think YOU’RE brilliant!

I spent most of my years in high school following boys I liked & tried to imitate their walks. At the end, I got so good at imitating, I didn’t actually remember how it was I walked.

I was a Goonie (even before the movie), a tomboy & an Outsider, though nowhere near as cool as the one in the book. I had four friends, two of whom are still my friends. I had no guidance counselor. High school was merely to be survived, like a prison sentence. Thank gods I wasn’t shanked — we had as many people going to Ivy League colleges as to actual prison, & pregnant girls in the hallways weren’t uncommon.

Ah, the good old days… neither good nor old.
