Dear Karthik Raman,

I enjoyed this article tremendously! I mean, I usually enjoy & learn something from your articles, but this one, in particular, reached me.

And the point about the inability to “uncurl” the dog’s tail helped me remember a story I haven’t thought of in a long time. An old dog came upon a puppy chasing its tale. The puppy was eager to explain. “I just learned that happiness is located in my tail, so I’m chasing it!” said the puppy. The old dog nodded. “I, too, learned that happiness is in my tail,” said the old dog. “But I also learned that when I chase it, it’s hard to catch, but when I walk, it simply follows me.”

Thank you so much!
