Dear Mr. Phadke,

I believe formality is underrated, it has old world charm and dignity. Unfortunately, it is no longer the norm in this, American, my society. Many times I answer the telephone only to hear the telemarketer call me or my for my husband, by our first name, as if he or she is our bosom friend who’ve known us for years.

Since strangers mispronounce my name and don’t know that my husband goes by his middle name, they’re easy to spot! I tell them “those” people” are t home. However, if someone asks for Mr. or Mrs. Tucker, I make time to talk to them.

Yes, Mr. Phadke, unfortunately, common curtesy is uncommon now. So I salute you, sir, for carrying on the tradition of your parents!
