Dear Soulfinder,

I am honestly envious of the loud & fun & warm house you must have grown up in. As an only child of an only child, I did receive a lot of love, but our place didn’t exactly ring out in noise! Plus my father had only one sibling who only had one child, so I have only one first cousin!

What possible difference does the color of skin or eyes makes on the character of a person? Is a person kind? Is a person funny? Smart? Does a person treat others (especially service people) well & generously? That is all that matters! This is how I raised my children — this is the house, community, city, country, world I want to live in.

How rude to ask, “Who or what are you?” You are you! What are you passionate about? What do you lose sleep about? Tell me about your dreams — about your favorite foods, your favorite places to visit, your favorite writers & books! Where did you fall in love? How old were you when you had your first heartbreak? How old do you feel most days? These things define you, feelings & thoughts, NOT how you look!
