I am so disappointed. Damn. I want to be angry, but it’s too hot, and I can’t muster enough energy.

Joe Ide is a pretty good mystery writer. I have read his mystery novels starring IQ, and have enjoyed them. So, I was looking forward to this book, The Goodbye Coast. In the book, Joe Ide has resurrected Philip Marlowe into a modern Los Angeles.

Marlowe, a detective created in the 1940s by Raymond Chandler, was set in Los Angele. In Chandler’s novels, Marlowe is a tough guy with his own code of honor. The novels are noir, dark and gritty, there are betrayals and…
