Scotland — Part 3. Rosslyn Chapel and a 23-year-old movie.

It is my understanding that when the Protestants were in power in Scotland, they actively went after the Catholics and killed many. And then, when the Catholics were back in power, they actively went after Protestants and killed many. And this back and forth power struggle and resulting religious cleansing went on and on throughout centuries. And still today, this sectarian hatred amongst two groups of Christians continues to divide — maybe not as openly and bitterly, but things do heat up from time to time, and hatred bubbles up to the surface.

There are beautiful cathedrals, and chapels, and churches throughout Scotland, and these artistic, lovely, and grand structures should unify — as artwork of this nature should glorify God and unify people in praise. There is all of this wondrous art praising God and showing God’s majesty and people should be admiring it throughout centuries, but instead, they get angry and jealous and kill each other over that, as well.

And then there are books, and we started making movies from books — movies like The DaVinci Code, where everyone runs around, looking for the Holy Grail, which didn’t turn out to be a grail at all, but rather the descendants of Jesus or the Holy Feminine, or some other garbled mess of nonsense.
